Everyone is curious to know if Virat Kohli will ever return to play for Delhi. Meanwhile, the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley has finally responded to the doubts. He has confirmed that Kohli remains committed to representing his home state in domestic cricket and will do so whenever his international schedule and workload allow.

It is expected that Kohli, who only plays ODI cricket for India, can be seen playing with Delhi in the upcoming 2026-27 Vijay Hazare Trophy, which is scheduled to begin in December. Speaking on the sidelines of the DDCA’s annual prize distribution ceremony for club cricketers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Jaitley left little doubt about the association’s stance. As Jaitley spoke on the sidelines of the DDCA's annual prize distribution ceremony for club cricketers, he said:
“This is his home association. There is no question of us being open. This state is as much his as it belongs to me. And his commitment to play for the state is impeccable.”
Jaitley added:
“Whenever available, keeping his international commitments and workload management in mind, he definitely and certainly will play for the state again.”
Kohli, who has now retired from Test cricket, faces a busy white-ball calendar. He is due to play a three-match ODI series against the West Indies from 27 September, followed by five ODIs in New Zealand in November and three ODIs against Sri Lanka in December.
The former India captain last represented Delhi in the Ranji Trophy in 2025 after a 13-year absence and later played two matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy that year. Jaitley’s comments reaffirm that Kohli continues to be viewed as an integral part of Delhi cricket. It remains to be seen if the legendary batter returns for the domestic league.
