Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 ‘Player of the series’, Deepti Sharma, who bagged a record-breaking fifer and scored a fifty in the final, has been released by Women’s Premier League (WPL) franchise UP Warriorz ahead of the mega auction. UP Warriorz have opted for a major overhaul after two lacklustre seasons and retained just one player, uncapped Shweta Sehrawat.
However, Warriorz will have an option to retain Deepti in the upcoming auction. They got into the bidding room with Rs 14.5 crore in the purse and four Right to Match (RTM) cards.
With Deepti being in the form of her life, franchise may splurge to acquire her services. Earlier, she was retained for Rs 2.6 crore. She is India’s second-most expensive player in WPL auction history.
In addition to Deepti, UP Warriorz have released their captain Alyssa Healy who missed the previous season due to an injury. Other prominent players released by them are Georgia Voll, Grace Harris, Tahlia McGrath, Alana King, Uma Chetry, Kranti Gaud and Sophie Ecclestone.
