Connor Carroll busted the world record for the most runs scored in the first three innings of a T20Is

Croatia opener Connor Carroll wreaked havoc with the bat again, this time to script a T20I World Record. The 23-year-old struck a 74-run knock in his third T20I has broken the world record for the most runs scored in the first three innings of a T20I career. By amassing a staggering 295 runs across his first three appearances, he has pushed France’s Gustav McKeon—who previously held the record with 286 runs—into second place.

The left-handed batter and off-spinner made his international debut during Croatia's opening match of the ongoing Men’s T20 World Cup Regional Europe Qualifier A against France. In that encounter, Carroll smashed a quick-fire 71 off just 34 balls, top-scoring for his side in a failed 209-run chase where the next-highest contribution from a teammate was a mere 12 runs off 10 deliveries.

He carried that breathtaking form into the next fixture against Switzerland, hammering a sensational 150 off 72 balls in an innings laced with 13 fours and 10 sixes. To put his dominance into perspective, Croatia's other four batters combined for just 41 runs off 48 balls as the team posted 199-2. Switzerland ultimately fell 16 runs short of the target, with Carroll capping off his masterclass by picking up his maiden international wicket.

Carroll's third international appearance came against a formidable Jersey side, where the Croatian bowling attack faced a severe test. Carroll himself struggled with the ball, leaking 63 runs from his four overs as Jersey piled on a mammoth total of 280-3. However, when it came to the chase, the opener stood tall once again, finishing as his side's top scorer for the third consecutive match by slamming a brutal 74 off just 31 deliveries, an innings laced with three fours and nine maximums. Despite his heroics, he found little support from the rest of the batting lineup, and Croatia was eventually bowled out for 171.

Following this remarkable three-match stretch, Carroll’s international statistics stand at a staggering 295 runs with an extraordinary average of 147.50 and a blistering strike rate of 215.32. His sudden impact on the international stage is backed by strong domestic foundations; he has been a regular fixture in Australian grade cricket over the last two years and even represented the South Australia Second XI as recently as February 2026.
