Yograj Singh reveals why Arjun stopped training with him.

Arjun Tendulkar will play for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025.

Yograj Singh, the father of the renowned Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, has disclosed the reason behind Arjun Tendulkar's decision to no longer train with him. In 2022, Arjun, the son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, received training from Yograj. The next year, the southpaw made his IPL debut and demonstrated some noteworthy domestic cricket achievements as well.

Yograj Singh on Arjun Tendulkar

Yograj talked about training Arjun and how, after just 12 days of training, he scored a century. He did disclose, though, that others were afraid Arjun's name would become associated with him.

"Sachin's son. He comes here for 12 days and scores a hundred. When he scored a hundred on debut and then came back to IPL, people feared that his (Arjun) name will get stuck with him (Yograj). Are you understanding my point?," Yograj said on 'Unfiltered by Samdish'.

Yograj also added that he told Yuvraj Singh to call Sachin Tendulkar to let him train Arjun for a year.

"People are very afraid of name-sticking. I told Yuvi (Yuvraj) to call Sachin and ask him to give me Arjun for a year. See what happens after that," he added.

Arjun Tendulkar's recent performance in domestic cricket

Arjun, meanwhile, was not playing at his best during the most recent domestic season; in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024–25, he scored 40 runs in two innings. In three games with the ball, he has just taken four wickets.

He had previously scored 51 runs at an average of 17 from three innings in the Ranji Trophy. However, he did perform with the ball, taking 16 wickets at an average of 18.18 in four games, including one five-wicket haul. He took one wicket and amassed just 21 runs from two games in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024–25.

Prior to this, he had a lacklustre IPL 2024 season, playing in just one match and conceding 22 runs at an economy rate of 9.42. Arjun was once again selected by the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League 2025) mega auction at his base price of Rs 30 Lakh, despite his subpar performances thus far. He will now play for Mumbai in the team for the fourth consecutive season.
