The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has conveyed its sincere appreciation to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the International Cricket Council (ICC), and all stakeholders involved for their constructive efforts in addressing the recent challenges surrounding the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) urged the Pakistan Cricket Board to end their decision to boycott their T20 World Cup 2026 clash against India, which is scheduled to take place on February 15 in Colombo. Notably, PCB has refused to play their World Cup clash against India to show solidarity with Bangladesh, who are replaced by Scotland.
BCB urged PCB to play against India
The BCB thanked PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi for taking a stand with them when ICC replaced them after they wanted to play outside India due to security concerns. BCB President Md Aminul Islam, who recently paid a brief visit to Pakistan for high-level discussions, said the meetings were encouraging and conducted in a spirit of mutual respect.
“We are deeply touched by Pakistan’s willingness to stand with Bangladesh and to go beyond expectations during this time,” Aminul Islam said. “The warmth shown by the PCB leadership and the fans reflects the strong bond between our two cricketing nations. Long may this brotherhood continue to grow” said BCB in a press release
“In light of the positive outcomes from our meetings, I respectfully request Pakistan to play the ICC T20 World Cup match scheduled for 15 February against India,” he said. “Such a decision would serve the greater good of cricket and benefit the entire cricket ecosystem.”

Mohsin Naqvi on India vs Pakistan decision
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that a final call on whether Pakistan will boycott its T20 World Cup match against India will be taken within the next 24 hours. He confirmed that discussions are ongoing with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and also involve Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul.
“We have had discussions with all parties. It would not be appropriate for me to comment right now. Once we receive their response, we will take a decision. After that, we will consult the Prime Minister,” Naqvi told reporters.
He added that an official announcement is expected by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Sports Tak understands that Naqvi will brief Sharif and request him to withdraw the boycott call after being persuaded to do so by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul.
