Suryakumar Yadav-led India bounced back in the T20 World Cup 2026 after suffering a defeat against South Africa as they won their must-win matches in a row to book their place in the semi-finals, becoming the fourth and final team to reach the last four. With India confirming their spot, the full semi-final schedule of the tournament is now clear.

How India Made It to the Semi-Finals

India pulled off a record chase of 196 runs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, knocking the West Indies out of the tournament. It was the highest successful run chase in T20 World Cup history at that venue. Sanju Samson played a key role, scoring an unbeaten 97-run knock to guide the team home in a high-pressure game.

After their defeat to South Africa in the Super 8 stage, India kept their hopes alive with wins over Zimbabwe and the West Indies. They finished second in Group 1 with four points, which was enough to secure a semi-final berth. South Africa topped the group with three wins from three matches, collecting six points.

Semi-Final Schedule

The semi-finals are now set. England, who topped their group with three straight wins, will take on India in the second semi-final. This match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 5.

In the first semi-final, South Africa will face New Zealand on March 4 in Kolkata. South Africa finished first in their group, while New Zealand ended second in theirs. The final of the 2026 T20 World Cup will be held on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
