Axar Patel pulled off a brilliant fielding effort and teamed up with Shivam Dube to complete a stunning catch during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final between India and England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The moment helped Arshdeep Singh get the wicket of Will Jacks.

After bowling three wides in a row, Arshdeep again tried the wide yorker but ended up delivering a low full toss outside off. Jacks swung hard at it but sliced the ball towards sweeper cover.
Axar sprinted a long way to his left and grabbed the ball while running. Realising that his momentum would take him over the boundary rope, he quickly flicked the ball back into play.

Shivam Dube, who had rushed in from deep point, completed the catch to finish a superb piece of teamwork in the field. The clip of the incident went viral on social media. Here is the video.

Coming back to the semifinals, India defeated England by seven runs to seal their berth in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026, where they will face New Zealand. The T20 World Cup 2026 final will take place between West Indies and India at iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Notably, this is the second consecutive time that India defeated England in the semifinal of the marquee event. Earlier two sides faced each other in the semifinal of the 2024 T20 World Cup which was hosted by West Indies and USA.
