India fielded an A side in the warm-up matches before the T20 World Cup to allow other teams to gain practice match experience. The A team, led by Ayush Badoni, played against the USA and will face Namibia next. Tilak Verma, part of the main squad, participated and scored 38 runs in the first warm-up but will not play the second. The main team has one warm-up match against South Africa on 4th February. This approach provided valuable game time for players like Tilak Verma ahead of the tournament.
