Tamil Nadu cricketer Baba Indrajith earned praise from the cricket community when he bravely batted with a taped mouth due to a lip injury in the Vijay Hazare Trophy semi-final against Haryana on December 13.

In their pursuit of 294 runs for a spot in the final, Tamil Nadu lost their third wicket at 54 runs in the 14th over. Despite this, Indrajith, who had scored 92 and 103 not out in his previous two innings, walked out to bat with tape on his mouth.

However, the 29-year-old asked for physiotherapy after facing only ten deliveries. The physio and stadium doctors hurried onto the field to help the right-handed batter.

They removed the white dressing, added padding to Indrajith's upper lip, and taped it down. The experienced batter carried on with his inning without showing any signs of discomfort.

“Thank you all for your concern and wishes. Slipped and fell very badly when I stepped out of the ice bath mid-inning. Fell face-on in the bathroom and was shaken up quite a bit. Was bleeding with a deep cut on the upper lip and the inside of the lip. Managed to bat somehow but was gutted to not cross the finish line for the team. Just went to the hospital and got my stitches done. Should be back soon. Thank you once again,” Indrajith posted on Instagram.

Anshul Kamboj dismissed the former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player after he scored 64 runs from 71 deliveries, with Ankit Kumar taking an impressive catch. Tamil Nadu's hope of reaching the finals were shattered with Indrajith's dismissal, leading to their eventual defeat in the semi-final by 63 runs, allowing Haryana to advance to the final.

After the match, Tamil Nadu captain Dinesh Karthik said that Indrajith had wounded himself during the mid-innings break, sustaining a significant cut on the upper lip. Following the game, he was promptly taken to the hospital, where he received stitches.
