Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha earned victories in the preliminary quarterfinals of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy on Sunday.

Karnataka rode on Krishnamurthy Siddharth’s unbeaten 85 as they made the light work of Rajasthan’s 200-run target with 8 wickets to spare. Even Deepak Hooda’s brilliant 109-run knock couldn’t save Rajasthan from blushes.

Vijaykumar Vyshak, with his exceptional four wicket spell, kept Rajasthan batters in check as they were folded to just 199.

Krishnamurthy took up the mantle and anchored the winners’ innings as he hammered six boundaries in a 120-ball knock.

Captain Ravikumar Samarth initially gave Karnataka a decent start with a half century knock (54 off 65). The other batter who shone with the willow was Manish Pandey who struck a modest 52 off 53 to guide the winners to the victory line.

Batting first Vidarbha, with the help of Atharva Taide’s 51, Ganesh Satish’s 40 and Yash Rathod’s 57, set a target of 259. But despite Bikramkumar Das’ 61 off 100 ran out of steam and were all out.

UP get the better of MP
