The T20 Blast in England saw another swashbuckling performance, this time at the hands of South African batter Leus du Plooy, who currently plays from Derbyshire. Playing against Yorkshire, the all-rounder helped his side reach a target of 104 runs in just 58 balls i.e. 9.4 overs. The reduced score was due to rains, with Yorkshire scoring 175 runs in their 20 overs before D/L method gave their opponents a target of 104 in 10 overs instead.


Du Plooy's 48 runs in 20 balls and notched a brilliant strike rate of 240, with five fours and three sixes to his name as he led 

Derbyshire to victory. It was an important contribution as their batters seemingly faltered midway through their innings, especially after the wicket of skipper Shan Masood fell. 


Yorkshire, batting first, scored 175 runs in their 20 overs. Skipper Harry Brooke was the highest run-getter for Yorkshire, with 77 runs to his name. He faced 50 balls and played an inning that included four fours and the same number of sixes. In addition to the skipper, opener Finn Allen also scored 37 runs in 17 balls with the help of one four and four sixes. 


Meanwhile, Mark Watt's three wickets were the most for Derbyshire.


The match was marred by rain in the first innings and the match had to be interrupted. With a reduced target of 105 runs to be chased down in 10 overs. Du Plooy came out with the team's score at 16/2 in 1.5 overs. He then shared a 62-run partnership with Pakistan opener Masood, before the latter lost his wicket after scoring 34 runs in 24 balls. Du Plooy was unbeaten till the end, playing an innings of 48 runs in 20 balls and gifting his team the victory.
