Kraigg Brathwaite hit back at Hogg after West Indies won the Test match against Australia at Gabba.

Following their thrilling victory against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane, West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite revealed that the team drew motivation from critical comments made by former Australian cricketer Rodney Hogg. Before the series, Hogg had labeled the West Indies team as 'hopeless' and 'pathetic,' but the team turned these words into a source of inspiration, leading to a historic 8-run win in the second Test of the series. This victory marked West Indies' first Test win on Australian soil since 1997.

"I must say we had two words that inspired us in this Test match. Mr. Rodney Hogg said that we were 'pathetic and hopeless'. That was our inspiration. We wanted to show the world we're not pathetic. And I must ask him ask him, are these muscles big enough for him (Shows his biceps)," said Braithwaite.

In the aftermath of their remarkable triumph, Brathwaite expressed that Hogg's remarks fueled the team's desire to prove their worth on the international stage. The win at the Gabba, he noted, was not only significant for West Indies cricket but also signified a promising start for the young Test side. For the first time in 31 years, West Indies managed to avoid defeat in a Test series against Australia.

"We won a Test match in Australia. It does a lot for West Indies cricket. It means a lot. It's been a number of years since we've won a Test match here. But my message to the group is that this is the beginning. It's amazing, we enjoy this, but this has to continue. I'm extremely proud," Braithwaite added.

Brathwaite also praised Shamar Joseph for his outstanding performance. Joseph, the star of the visitors, took seven wickets in the second innings, conceding only 68 runs in 11.5 overs. His exceptional performance throughout the series, which included a total haul of 13 wickets, earned him the 'Player of the Series' title.

"I knew I had Shamar probably an hour before play. He's a superstar and I know he'll do great things for West Indies in the future. Just his belief, it's a great example for this team to follow. As I said, this is the beginning. We have to continue and play with heart and keep fighting for West Indies. I would love more Test cricket for sure," said Brathwaite.

Joseph played a crucial role in foiling Australia's chances of a series sweep. On Day 4, he dismantled Australia's batting lineup, preventing them from reaching the target of 156 runs with eight wickets in hand. This series highlighted the resurgence of West Indies cricket and showcased the potential of their emerging talents.
