India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a big hundred against West Indies in the ongoing second Test of the series at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. After Day 2's play, Jaiswal met legendary West Indies batter Brian Lara. The former Caribbean captain reserved huge praise for the 23-year-old Indian opener as he playfully requested him saying, "Don't beat our bowlers that bad."
Jaiswal had a humble reaction to Lara's praise as he said, "I'm just trying, sir."
Jaiswal hit 22 fours from 258 balls he faced. He would’ve went on to score a double hundred had it not been for the unfortunate mix-up with captain Shubman Gill early on Day 2, leading to a run out.
“I always put the team first, how I can play for my team and what is important for my team at that moment in time. So I always think that, and that gives me the answer to how I can play, what shots I can play, how the wicket is, and if I’m there, I make sure that I take it as long as I can. So that is all my mindset that if I have a start, I make sure that I should make it big, just like that," Jaiswal posted in the video posted by the BCCI.

Jaiswal praises under-fire Sudharsan
Jaiswal shared a 193-run partnership for the second wicket with Sai Sudharsan who was under pressure for not having enough runs under his belt. He lauded Sudharsan for his 87-run knock.
“We (Jaiswal and Sudharsan) were just chatting in the middle that if we are set, we should take it long, and we need to play our shots as well, and we were just trying to rotate the strikes and score runs when there is an opportunity, and I think he played really well," the southpaw said.
Jaiswal on attacking new ball alongside Gill
Jaiswal talked about Gill as well and how they planned to attack the new ball. They shared a 74-run partnership for the third wicket before Jaiswal got run out.
“Gill bhai has batted amazingly as always, and that is what we were talking about if we are in. So we should make it count and just keep playing our instinct as well. If there is a new ball, we should go for runs, and it was very nice to bat with him. The way he bats and the way he runs the game when he is batting, I think it’s absolutely fantastic," he added.
Gill went on to score 129 runs from 196 balls, including 16 fours and a couple of sixes. 40s from Nitish Kumar Reddy and Dhruv Jurel helped India post 518/5 before they declared the innings.
