Ravindra Jadeja scored a 168-ball century against West Indies in 1st Test

This was Jadeja's sixth century in red-ball cricket

Veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored his sixth century in red-ball cricket during the first Test of the two-match series against West Indies. With this, the all-rounder continued his blistering form with the bat in the longest format and played a major role in the side crossing the 400-run mark on Day 2.

The 36-year-old came out to bat after India were 218/4 and had just lost KL Rahul for exactly 100 runs. The left-hander went on to form a massive partnership alongside Dhruv Jurel as both of them smacked the opposing bowlers for fun at the Narendra Modi stadium. Jadeja would reach his half-century right before the end of the second session and did so after facing 81 deliveries. He had already scored three boundaries and four maximums in his valiant knock and things only got better for him as the day progressed.

Jurel and Jadeja's mammoth partnership

Both Jurel and Jadeja started the third session well and toiled with the opposing bowlers. Soon after, Jurel would go on to bring up his maiden Test century and would reach the mark after facing 190 deliveries. Though he would lose his wicket later for 125, Jadeja would bat on with the play about to be concluded for the day. Jadeja would reach his century in the final few overs of the third and final session, becoming the Men in Blue's third centurion of the innings after KL Rahul and Jurel.

The all-rounder has been in top form when it comes to the batting department in red-ball cricket. In India's previous Test assignment against England, the 36-year-old had scored 516 runs in 10 innings against the Three Lions in the five-match Test series. This included a century and five fifties and saw him inch closer to the 4000-run mark in the longest format.

Jadeja remains unbeaten

Jadeja remained unbeaten on 104 as Day 2 of the first West Indies Test drew to a close. The hundred against West Indies shows that Jadeja has certainly continued from where he left off and he will be hoping to pile on more runs as he takes the crease for the third day of the match.
