Chloe Tryon hammered a fiery yet unbeaten 57 off 32 as South Africa gave India women a reality check ahead of T20 World Cup with a stunning five-wicket victory on a tricky pitch to clinch the T20I tri-series title on Thursday (February 2). Tryon’s maiden T20I half-century helped South Africa overhaul India's lowly target of 110 with two overs to spare.

South African bowlers' discipline bowling kept Indian batters in check as Harmanpreet Kaur-led side was reduced to 109/4. Harleen Deol top-scored with 46 off 56 which was decorated with four boundaries.

Batting first India lost both their openers cheaply with Nonkululeko Mlaba striking twice in as many overs. A partnership was brewing between captain Harmanpreet and Deol for the fourth wicket but the scoring rate was quite low. Later, Harmanpreet took the longest walk towards pavilion on 21 off Sune Luus' ball.

The degree of difficulty all other batters faced due to the slowness of the track made Tryon's innings extra special. Despite South Africa being reduced to 47/4 and then 66 for 5 at the start of the 14th over, Indian spinners Deepti Sharma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, and Sneh Rana did their best to offset a perplexing batting approach by Harleen Deol.

Tryon did the exact opposite of what Deol did on a pitch where the ball was not coming onto the bat. The Indians paid a high price for Harleen Deol's massive consumption of dot balls.

"It will take two three days but it will get fine. You have to enjoy yourself whatever the situation and we did that. Plenty of positives in the series, we didnt get over the line but our bowlers bowled very well," Harmanpreet said after losing the match.

Meanwhile South African skipper Sune Luus said,"Thank you so much, super proud of the girls, just the momentum we needed going into the World Cup. Out an out a spinning wicket, playing in India again but an outstanding innings from Chloe".
