Story Highlights:

BCCI has increased the reserve price for Team India's title sponsorship rights by over 15% ahead of the new commercial cycle running until March 2028.

Indian cricket board has also raised the base price for associate partner rights while inviting fresh bids from interested companies.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has significantly increased the reserve price for Team India's title sponsorship rights ahead of the next commercial cycle, raising the base amount by more than 15 percent.

According to a report by The Economic Times, the board has fixed the new reserve price at ₹4.9 crore per match, compared to the ₹4.2 crore per match paid by the incumbent title sponsor during the previous cycle.

The revised sponsorship cycle will remain in effect until March 2028 and is expected to include approximately 35 international matches, with the possibility of a few additional fixtures.

BCCI increases reserve prices for sponsorship rights

Apart from raising the title sponsorship reserve price, the BCCI has also increased the base price for associate partner rights.

As per the report, the reserve price for each associate sponsorship slot has been set at ₹95 lakh per match, up from the previous ₹82 lakh per match.

Based on the expected 35 international fixtures, the reserve price for Team India's title sponsorship rights works out to nearly ₹169.8 crore. During the previous cycle, IDFC First Bank paid ₹235.2 crore for a deal that covered 56 international matches.

Meanwhile, the reserve price for each associate partner slot has been fixed at ₹33.3 crore. SBI Life, Campa Cola and Atomberg were among the associate sponsors during the previous commercial cycle.

Bidding process begins ahead of new sponsorship cycle

The BCCI has officially invited bids for the Team India title sponsorship rights, with August 13 set as the deadline for submissions.

Interested companies looking to acquire associate partner rights have until August 25 to submit their bids.

According to the report, the cricket board has intentionally shortened the sponsorship cycle so that it aligns with several of its major commercial agreements, including those with Adidas and Apollo Tyres, both of which are due for renewal in March 2028.

By synchronising these commercial properties, the BCCI is expected to package multiple sponsorship rights together during the next renewal phase, potentially attracting stronger interest from brands.

The revised bidding process also comes at a time when the commercial value of bilateral cricket, particularly Test matches and One-Day Internationals, continues to be closely monitored as advertisers increasingly shift their focus towards the T20 format.
