Australia batter Travis Head has finally broken his silence on the much-discussed no-handshake incident involving Virat Kohli during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The Sunrisers Hyderabad opener dismissed suggestions of any lingering tension between the two, insisting, "There's nothing to patch", while describing such moments as part of the game.

Head addressed the incident for the first time, making it clear that he does not believe there is any issue to resolve between him and the former RCB captain.

"I don't think there's anything to patch over. That's just that's what it is. That's yeah. No surprises with how the competition went or what went on. So as expected," Head said.

The Australian opener chose not to disclose what exactly transpired between the two during the contest but suggested that such incidents are not uncommon in competitive cricket. He added that everything unfolded as expected and indicated there was nothing unusual about the situation from his perspective.

Travis Head's comments effectively put an end to speculation surrounding the episode, which had continued long after the IPL season concluded.

What happened between Kohli and Head?

The controversy dates back to Sunrisers Hyderabad's fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad during IPL 2026.

While the match featured a brief exchange of words between Kohli and Head when the former was batting, the bigger talking point emerged after the game. Television cameras appeared to capture Virat Kohli walking past Head during the customary post-match handshake without greeting him.
