In a series of surprising events, Zee Entertainment on Monday secured the media rights for the 39 FIFA competitions, including the FIFA World Cup 2026, FIFA Women's World Cup 2027, and FIFA World Cup 2030. The landmark deal provides Zee the rights to broadcast events organized by FIFA in India from 2026 to 2034, which would boost their sports portfolio. Football fans in India can switch to Zee's coverage starting from June 11, 2026, when the FIFA World Cup 2026 gets underway across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Good news for football fans in India
Notably, all the games will be available on Zee's Unite8 Sports Channels, while live streaming services will be offered through Zee5.
Along with the live game coverage, fans can enjoy the match highlights, expert analysis shows, exclusive features, and a wide range of FIFA documentary content across the entire tournament cycle.
Big move from Zee
While opening up on the deal, ZEEL CEO Punit Goenka has expressed his excitement on the launch of its Unite8 Sports network.
"We are excited to bring one of the world's biggest sporting spectacles to Indian audiences," said ZEEL CEO Punit Goenka.
"Football cuts across regions and demographics, and the investments in garnering the media rights and launching dedicated sports channels reflect our clear belief in its long-term potential,"
"Our approach has been to invest in properties where we see current relevance and future growth potential," added Goenka.
A few time back, Zee announced four sports channels under Unite8 banner:
- Unite8 Sports 1 (Hindi)
- Unite8 Sports 1 (Hindi)
- Unite8 Sports 2 (English)
- Unite8 Sports 2 HD (English)
The network's sports channels will become the exclusive destination for FIFA tournaments in India, starting with the 2026 FIFA World Cup and extending through a comprehensive schedule of global football events over the last eight years.
