Shreyas Iyer

India's Shreyas Iyer stands undismissed as the bails are not dislodged after the ball hit wicket during the first day of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on December 14, 2022.

Story Highlights:

Shreyas Iyer got out lbw for 8.

3 India A batters crossed the fifty-run mark on Day 3.

Shreyas Iyer's return to Test squad still seems uncertain as he departs for a low score in red-ball cricket for third consecutive time. After underwhelming scores for West Zone in Duleep Trophy 2025 semifinal, the India A captain was dismissed for a single-digit score against Australia A on Day 3 of the first unofficial Test at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

In the second session, Iyer walked out to bat after Sai Sudharsan departed trying to attempt a reverse sweep against Cooper Connolly. After Sudharsan's lbw dismissal, Iyer got out lbw to Corey Rocchiccioli. The only boundary he hit was against Todd Murphy. He was struck in front by Corey's delivery.

Earlier, the start of Day 3 was delayed due to rain and wet outfield. Starting at an overnight score of 116/1, Narayan Jagadeesan got out caught behind. Xavier Bartlett dismissed him. The opener scored 64 runs from 113 balls. Sudharsan batted well and thwarted Australia A's short ball ploy. He completed his fifty and looked set for a century but lost his wicket trying to play a reckless shot. His knock of 73 from 124 balls featured 10 fours.

Padikkal, Jurel score 50s

Later in the day, Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel's fifties took India past 300. After missing Duleep Trophy due to dengue, Jurel unleashed a scathing attack against Australia A bowlers. He hit Corey for two sixes and a four in an over. Padikkal batted patiently on the other end. He reached his fifty with a boundary off 117th ball he faced. Jurel continued to attack and crossed the fifty-run mark.

Konstas, Philippe score tons

On first two days, Australia A batters dominated the proceedings. After Sam Konstas’ ton on Day 1, Josh Philippe wreaked havoc on India A bowlers. He scored 123 runs from just 87 balls, featuring 18 fours and four sixes. Opener Campbell Kellaway (88), Connolly (70) and Liam Scott (81) scored fifties as Australia A put on 532/6 on the board from 98 overs before captain Nathan McSweeney declared.
