A missed penalty in the first half proved costly for the five-time world champions, who suffered one of their earliest exits in recent tournament history. In a post-match statement, Ancelotti refused to view the loss as the end of his project. He said:
“We must continue to work and improve, and find new ideas.”
Ancelotti added:
“I believe that this loss is not the end, but the beginning of a new cycle.”
The Italian tactician, who took charge of the Selecao in 2025 and recently extended his contract through 2030, faced criticism over squad selections and tactical decisions amid fan frustration.
Despite the backlash, Ancelotti stated building for the future rather than making immediate changes at the helm. Brazil will now turn its attention to regrouping ahead of upcoming competitions, with Ancelotti tasked with injecting fresh ideas into a squad featuring stars like Vinicius Jr. and other rising talents.
