"France have not beaten us in two years, so they can't be considered better than us,"

Yamal added:

"They're at an excellent level [and] have wonderful players, but I don't think they're above anyone. For me, there's no one above Spain."

Spain have dominated recent encounters with France. La Roja eliminated the French in the Euro 2024 semi-finals with Yamal scoring a memorable wondergoal and again defeated them 5-4 in the 2025 UEFA Nations League semi-final, where Yamal netted a brace.
