In a series of hilarious moments, Donald Trump has joined the group of individuals raising questions on England's approach during their FIFA World Cup 2026 loss against Argentina. Speaking on Friday, the US president appeared to slam Thomas Tuchel's tactics of switching to a more defensive approach after the Three Lions moved ahead in Wednesday's clash.

In a reception in New York along with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Trump mentioned England skipper Harry Kane, with whom he played golf in Florida a few time back.

The US President noted that England made a mistake by putting Harry Kane, who was their best player throughout the tournament, at a defensive shift to maintain the one-goal lead when the Argentine team going all guns blazing against the Three Lions.

“You have a great player in England, who I played golf with, Harry. They perhaps made a mistake when they made him a defensive player. What do I know about soccer?"

“They took the lead, and they took their best player, and they put him on defence. We got to be a little offensive, right? What do I know about coaching"

Harry Kane's individual campaign at FIFA World Cup

Harry Kane enjoyed a stellar individual campaign at the FIFA World Cup 2026, as he was the joint-top goalscorer with teammate Jude Bellingham, scoring six goals and recording one assist in seven outings. It will be interesting to see if Harry would continue to play for England till the 2030 World Cup, as he is currently 32 years old and by the next edition he would be 36.

As of now, Kane hasn't said anything on his international future, as he could be looking to plan his career on a yearly basis. The Bayern Munich star forward would aim for another shot at winning the most prestigious tournament in the sport.
