Arsenal are keen on signing Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Diant Ramaj, who is currently on loan at Heidenheim. The Gunners see the 24-year-old as the ideal player to recruit for Mikel Arteta's team.

Arsenal keen to sign Borussia Dortmund's young goalkeeper

As per a report in Sport Bild, Arsenal consider Ramaj as a goalkeeper who can help the squad reach the next level. The German has played 16 matches for Heidenheim across all competitions this season, and the Gunners have been keeping tabs.

Speaking about the interest from the Premier League table-toppers, German journalist Christian Falk said Arteta's side were aiming a move for the goalkeeper who moved earlier this season. He said:

“Yes, that’s true. Ramaj is on Arsenal’s list. The Heidenheim goalkeeper is actually only on loan from Dortmund, so they [Arsenal] would have to sit down with them. He came in February 2025 for over €5m from Ajax, has a contract until 2029, and yeah, at 24 he’s a good age. It would be more of a forward-looking option, but certainly an interesting club for Ramaj.”

Ramaj has already confirmed his plans for the 2026/27 season: he would only return to Borussia Dortmund if he is their first choice goalkeeper. He does not want to play second fiddle to Gregor Kobel and said:

“One thing is certain for me: I have to continue to be on the pitch, get minutes under my belt and match practice. That’s why it’s clear to me that I’m not going to sit on the bench in Dortmund.”

The Gunners currently have David Raya as their first choice goalkeeper, and signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea earlier this season.

Bukayo Saka supports Arsenal teammate to become manager in the future

Arsenal player Bukayo Saka has supported David Raya to become a manager after his playing career. He feels that the Spanish is shar and told Sky SPorts:

“I think I might go David, David Raya. Yeah. He’s very sharp like in his head. He understands the game very well and you know, in the meetings he’s answering a lot of the questions. Yeah, he understands the game very well. And I think he I think if I’m right, he’s done his coaches badges if I’m right. So yeah, I think maybe there might be a future there for him."

The Gunners signed David Raya in 2024 for £27 million after joining on loan from Brentford in 2023.He has been their first choice goalkeeper since, and is leading the Premier League Golden Glove race this season.
