Diego Simeone has provided a huge update on Julian Alvarez amid the transfer rumors. The Atletico Madrid manager has publicly confirmed that the star forward will remain at the club. He has explained that the ownership’s firm stance leaves no room for further discussion.

Alvarez has been linked with FC Barcelona as the Catalan club is going through a big transition ahead of the club football season. They recently added Manchester City’s Rodri to the squad. However, it seems like Alvarez is confirmed to be staying in Madrid.

Simeone stated:

“If the club owner has expressed himself so firmly, there’s not much more to add.”

The Atletico head coach further added:

“It’s like in court: there’s no longer any room for doubt.”

The announcement comes amid ongoing speculation surrounding Alvarez’s future. The Argentine striker had previously expressed a desire to leave Atletico to pursue a new challenge, with Hansi Flick’s side among the clubs showing strong interest.

Atletico, however, has consistently rejected substantial offers and pointed to Alvarez’s contract, which runs until 2030 and includes a €500 million release clause. Simeone’s latest remarks reinforce the club’s longstanding position that teh player is not for sale and remains a central figure in their plans for the season ahead.

The 26-year-old returned to training with the squad earlier this month following Argentina’s World Cup campaign. With the transfer window still open, Atletico appear determined to keep one of their key attacking players as they prepare for the new La Liga campaign. However, according to the head coach, Alvarez will not be taking part in the coming games as he recovers.
