Hansi Flick's 100th game as Barcelona manager

After the massive victory, Barcelona boss mentioned about the argument with Marcelino regarding the ball not being put out of play when some Barca player was on the pitch. Reflecting on the incident, which made him receive a yellow card, Flick said that his intention was to only maintain the fair play in the game and nothing else and he expected the same from the opponent club.

"We talked about it afterwards outside. In the end, fair play is when a player is on the ground and you kick the ball out of play. We did it once, maybe twice, and at that moment Lamine was lying on the ground, I expected that from the opponent, and that’s what I told him," said Flick.

He added that emotions run high in these types of games and also expressed his admiration towards the Villarreal boss, noting his great work with the club.

“But emotions run high, it happens. He’s doing a great job with this team and I respect him a lot. After the game, it’s forgotten; it’s just the moment. I got the yellow card for that, and I deserved it,” Flick added.

Barcelona in strong position

After the win, Barcelona managed to claim a four point lead over the second placed Real Madrid. Currently, they are placed first in the LaLiga standings, with 64 points in hand in 26 games. They lost four games and drew one game in the league.
