As the echoes of the Durand Cup fill the air, reigning champions Bengaluru FC are gearing up to commence their title defence. The match-up will see them clash with the Indian Air Force in a highly anticipated showdown in Kishore Bharati Krirangan on Monday.

The team sheet from Bengaluru FC boasts a strong 28-player squad, largely consisting of emerging talents and fresh acquisitions. The onus of coaching this promising ensemble rests on developmental coach Bibiano Fernandez, who aims to retain the coveted Durand Cup title.

Bengaluru FC's success in the tournament will largely hinge on the integration and performance of their recent signings. Noteworthy mentions include goalkeeper Amrit Gope, central stalwart Shankar Sampingiraj, and dynamic forward Ashish Jha. While both Gope and Shankar were earlier associated with TRAU FC, Jha showcased his prowess with Sreenidi Deccan prior to donning the Bengaluru blue.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Indian Air Force had a rocky start, suffering a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Gokulam Kerala FC, currently topping the group C standings. Despite this setback, they possess the home advantage, having familiarized themselves with the Kishore Bharati Krirangan turf. Forward Mandeep Singh is expected to be at the forefront of their offense, spearheading their efforts for a maiden win. Reflecting on the upcoming clash, coach Priya Darshan expressed, "The players are excited to play against ISL team and defending champions BFC and well prepared to fight and win the game."

Meanwhile, another clash is on the horizon as former ISL champions, Chennaiyin FC, are set to lock horns with Tribhuvan Army FC in Guwahati. Fresh off a dominant 3-1 triumph over Hyderabad FC, Chennaiyin FC enters this group E match with confidence. Owen Coyale, their British coach, can find solace in the impeccable form displayed by his foreign forwards, Australian Jordan Murray and Briton Connor Shields.

Conversely, Tribhuvan Army FC showcased commendable resilience against the newly-promoted I-League team, Delhi FC, securing a crucial point. With aspirations of marking their maiden win and bolstering their chances of qualification, they will undoubtedly be a team to watch in this matchup.
