A woman was fired from her workplace after capturing and sharing a video clip with Lionel Messi for her partner. The short clip went viral on social media, featuring the Argentine legend smiling and sharing his message along with the woman.

Why was the woman fired?

The video was captured at the Kaseya Centre, known for being the home ground of the NBA giants Miami Heat. Lionel Messi had visited the stadium a few months ago, where one of the employees, Umara Salinas, saw him. Salinas requested for a video with Argentine for her partner, who is a big fan of the icon. However, she later confirmed on social media that she lost her job for her actions.

In an Instagram post shared on November 4, Yumara Salinas edited her caption to inform her followers that she had been fired from her job for filming and sharing her video with Lionel Messi. She wrote in the caption:

"And that's how I made the dream come true for my partner @greditocolon10 that the best player in the world. [Messi] sent him a greeting. Unfortunately, this cost me my job. God’s timing is perfect, and something better is coming for me 🙌🏽"

After the international break, Lionel Messi is set to guide Inter Miami to the MLS Cup. The Herons will lock horns with FC Cincinnati in the semifinals on November 23. If they win, it will mark Inter Miami's first time winning the MLS Cup. The Argentine has previously led the side to the 2023 Leagues Cup and the 2024 Supporters' Shield.
