Lionel Messi has revealed that he does not plan on having a career in the field of coaching at the end of his playing career. At 38, the Inter Mimi skipper is in the twilight of his professional career which has spanned over two decades.
Lionel Messi interacted with Luzu TV about various topics, consisting of his plans when he decides to retire. He revealed that he does not wish to become a coach and sees himself in a more administrative role as the owner of a football club.
"I don't see myself as a coach. I like the idea of being a manager, but I'd prefer to be an owner. I'd like to have my own club, start from the bottom, and make it grow. To be able to give the kids the opportunity to develop and achieve something important. If I had to choose, that's what would appeal to me most", he said (via ESPN).
The Argentina icon launched a professional club, Deportivo LSM, along with close friend and teammate Luis Suarez. The Club currently plays in the fourth tier of the Uruguayan football pyramid and boasts of around 3,000 members as well as 80 staff.
