The Argentina football team will be travelling to India in November for the FIFA friendly, and according to reports, the team the World Cup winners might face has been revealed.

As per what state sports department sources told PTI, the Argentina football team might be playing Australia in November when they visit Kerala for the FIFA friendly. The much-awaited clash is set to be held in Kochi between November 12 and 18.
It will be a rare opportunity for the Indian football fans to watch the 2022 World Cup champions on home soil. Earlier, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner’s much-anticipated visit to the country had received its final deal of approval, and the former FC Barcelona player will kick off his three-city tour in Kolkata on December 12.
It was also reported earlier by PTI that Kolkata would be the Argentine’s first stop which will be followed by a visit to Ahmedabad, Mumbai and then New Delhi. As per Satardru Dutta, the promoter, he is trying to arrange a meeting between the MLS striker and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the tour.
Messi also sent his iconic FIFA World Cup-winning jersey ahead of PM Modi’s 75th birthday, which was celebrated on September 17, 2025. Meanwhile, the team’s visit is set to conclude after the meeting with PM Modi at his residence in the national capital.
This is not the first time that the team will be travelling to India. The three-time World Cup winners visited the country back in 2011 when they played a FIFA friendly against Venezuela at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. The match was won by Argentina with a score of 1-0 all thanks to Nicolas Otamendi’s strike at minute 70.
