Lionel Messi’s fantastic four and an assist ends Inter Miami’s winless run

Lionel Messi delivered a masterclass performance on Saturday night, scoring four goals as Inter Miami thrashed CF Montreal 7-1 in Major League Soccer. The Argentine superstar’s clinical display helped the hosts snap a five-match winless streak in emphatic style at Nu Stadium.

Casemiro opened the scoring with a header in the 20th minute before Montreal briefly equalised through Fabian Herbers. Messi then took over, curling in a free-kick just before half-time, adding a brilliant solo effort early in the second half, providing an assist for Luis Suarez, completing his hat-trick with a delicate chip, and sealing the result with another free-kick deep into stoppage time. 

Teenage substitute Alexander Shaw also found the net. The 39-year-old now leads the MLS scoring charts with 18 goals this season. The victory lifts Inter Miami to second place in the Eastern Conference, seven points behind leaders Nashville, offering a timely boost amid recent coaching uncertainty.
