The latest health update on Trent Alexander-Arnold provided by Arne Slot

The 26-year-old right back suffered an ankle injury during the round of 16 clash against Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League. Due to his latest injury, Alexander-Arnold has not featured in the last four games that Liverpool has played across competitions.

Ahead of Liverpool's Premier League match against Leicester City at King Power Stadium, Slot was asked about Alexander-Arnold's latest health update and when would he return on the pitch.

Trent is not ready to start but if things go well today and tomorrow, he might, might, be on the bench. First session with the team was on Wednesday, so he will not be able to start but let's see if he can join us. It would be nice if he is with us, Arne Slot said.

He then later on was asked about his contract situation to which he replied,

No, I think you would be surprised if I answered differently to the rest of the season. It is for hours the same answer: we don't talk about these things when they are not done and they are not, Slot added.

Trent is coming back from injury and trained with us this week, he has shown his commitment and he shows me what a player he is when he is on the pitch and how much he works hard to be back with the team and the fans of Liverpool. Everyone who watches football knows he is an incredible full-back for this club, so let's see what the future brings, Slot further added.

Arne Slot has guided Liverpool to 36 wins in 50 games across competitions. On the other hand, Trent Alexander-Arnold is allegedly close to joining Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer. He has played 39 games for the Reds this season, as he has registered three goals and seven assists in the 2,869 minutes he has featured on the field.

Liverpool confirm Virgil van Dijk has signed contract extension

Earlier on Thursday, April 17, Liverpool revealed that their captain, Virgil van Dijk has signed a contract extension that will see him at the club until 2027. The star defender has signed a deal worth a whopping £400,000 a-week, according to the Guardian.

So far this season, Van Dijk has started each and every game (44) across competitions for the Reds. He has helped Liverpool record 20 shutouts and scored four goals in all competitions so far. His latest goal was the winner against West Ham United. Last week, Mohamed Salah signed an extension which will make him stay at the club until June 2027.
