Rivals but not enemies, and that's why it would be a dream come true for football fans to see Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the ultimate foes, play on the same team. The two legends have played each other several times, creating football’s most iconic rivalries of all time, mainly with Argentina, FC Barcelona, and Portugal and Real Madrid, respectively. 

However, in all these years, the two have never partnered for the same team. Meanwhile, an Olympic gold medalist has provided a shocking revelation on football’s ultimate dream. Carlos Tevez is planning a star-studded farewell match at Boca Juniors’ iconic La Bombonera stadium in December, with both Messi and Ronaldo among those invited, according to reports from Argentine outlet TyC Sports.

The former Argentina and Manchester United striker has received approval from Boca president Juan Roman Riquelme to stage the event at the club’s home ground. Possible dates being considered are the weekends of 12-13 or 19-20 December, depending on the domestic fixture schedule. 

Tevez, who has played alongside Messi with Argentina and with Ronaldo during his tenure with the Red Devils, aims to assemble around 60 players from his career for the occasion. He has expressed a desire for Messi and Ronaldo to feature on the same team, something that never occurred during their long careers as rivals. 

While the invitations have generated significant excitement among fans, neither Messi nor Ronaldo has confirmed their participation. Tevez has previously said he remains in contact with both players and is optimistic about bringing them together for the special night in Buenos Aires. The match would mark a formal send-off for Tevez, who retired in 2022 after three spells at Boca Juniors, where he made 279 appearances and won 11 trophies.
