The Egyptian King and Liverpool's winger, Mohamed Salah etched his name in history books by making Premier League history on Sunday, April 13 against West Ham United. Virgin van Dijk's goal was the game changing moment as Liverpool achieved a well deserved comeback against Graham Potter's men.

Mohamed Salah breaks Premier League record previously held by Thierry Henry and Erling Haaland

With an assist against West Ham United, Salah extended his tally to 45 goal contributions in the ongoing Premier League 2024-25 season. It was enough to snatch the record jointly held by Thierry Henry and Erling Haaland.

The Egyptian King provided an assist in the first half of the game as it was timed to perfection. In the 18th minute, he slid a trivela pass across the box for Luis Diaz to score. The assist was Salah's league leading 18th of the season along with 27 goals.

That combined number (45) has broken the previous record for goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season. It was held by Thierry Henry, who achieved it with Arsenal back in 2002-03 season, when he had 44 goal contributions to his name.

This record was further matched by Manchester City's goal scoring machine, Erling Haaland. He matched the tally of 44 goal contributions during the 2022-23 season. Having broken the record which was previously held by these two superstars, Salah can now eye the number of 50 goal involvements as Liverpool have six more games left.

This season, it has been very difficult for several teams to counter Mohamed Salah but apparently he was coming off a lean patch. Before the clash against West Ham, Salah had played four games without registering a goal or even an assist to his name.

The 32-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down as he has been the most important player for the Reds this season as he leads them towards a 20th top-flight title.

While talking to Sky Sports about his decision to continue with Liverpool, Salah said,

Of course I'm very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.

It's great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it's going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.
