Story Highlights:

The 60-year-old Australian coach failed to register a single win in eight matches across all competitions.

His dismissal marks Forest’s second managerial change of the season after Nuno Espírito Santo’s exit in September.

Nottingham Forest have sacked their head coach Ange Postecoglou after a disappointing run of form that finished in a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday. The announcement came out less than 20 minutes after the final whistle at the City Ground, bringing an abrupt end to the Australian coach's 39-day tenure.

In an official club statement, Forest confirmed Postecoglou's exit, citing a string of poor results.

“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” the statement read. The club added it would not be making any further comment at this time.

The 60-year old was appointed on September 9, penning a two-year deal after the exit of Nuno Espirito Santo. However, his time at the helm turned out to be turbulent, with Forest failing to claim a single win under his coaching. Across eight matches, the side faced six defeats and picked up just two draws.

Fans lost their patience quickly, with Postecoglou subject to 'sacked in the morning' chants during a defeat against FC Midtjylland. After a 2-0 loss to Newcastle, he hinted at upcoming conversations with club owner Evangelos Marinakis, although he later said that those talks never materialised. Speaking definitely ahead of the Chelsea clash, he remarked, "The story always ends the same... me with a trophy.

Nottingham Forest struggled under Ange

On the football pitch, Forest struggled both offensively and defensively under the leadership of Postecoglou. The team failed to score a goal in three consecutive home Premier League games for the first time since 1998. Inability to convert chances were recurring issues, as evidenced once again in the defeat to Chelsea. Defensively, the problem was just as same, with the team conceding 11 goals from set-pieces, more than double that of any other side in the Premier League during his time in charge.

Postecoglou's sudden exit marks another era of instability and the club now faces the tough task of finding yet another new leader to turn their fortunes around.
