Tottenham Hotspur fans received a boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Aston Villa as head coach Thomas Frank confirmed that Randal Kolo Muani could be in contention for his Spurs debut. The French forward, who joined the club on loan from PSG on transfer deadline day, has been sidelined since mid-September with a dead leg, leaving fans eager to see the 26-year-old in action.

Kolo Muani set for potential debut

Speaking in his Friday press conference, Frank revealed that Kolo Muani has trained consistently with the first team over the past two weeks.

“Kolo Muani has trained for two weeks with the team, that's good. He looks better and better and is in contention for the squad on Sunday, so that's a positive,” Thomas Frank stated.

While he emphasized that the striker may still need time to reach full match fitness, the news represents a welcome development for Spurs, who have been relying heavily on Richarlison in the attacking department due to injuries to both Kolo Muani and Dominic Solanke. Richarlison has delivered three goals and an assist in the Premier League so far this season, but the return of the French forward is expected to add significant competition and depth to the squad.

Kolo Muani’s journey to Tottenham Hotspur

Kolo Muani’s career has been marked by high-profile moves and impactful performances. The Frenchman rose to prominence during France’s run to the 2022 World Cup final, nearly scoring the winning goal in the final against Argentina. Following a €90million transfer to PSG, he struggled to replicate his previous form, netting just eight Ligue 1 goals before being loaned to Juventus in January 2025.

After a successful stint in Italy, Spurs secured his signature over the summer, and although Kolo Muani made a brief 13-minute Champions League cameo against Villarreal, injury delayed his Premier League debut. Frank’s confirmation now signals that the forward could finally showcase his talent at the heart of Tottenham’s attack.

Frank on squad and upcoming fixture

Reflecting on squad selection and upcoming challenges, Frank emphasized the importance of adapting to player availability. “I think we all have an idea in our head what could be the strongest team with all the players available, but probably the reality is that you need to create the strongest possible team of the players you have available now. That is my task, that is my job and get the best out of that,” he said.

Looking ahead to Aston Villa, Thomas Frank praised the opposition and their manager, Unai Emery, noting the challenge his team will face. “Villa is a top team, top manager, Unai, I respect him a lot. I think what he's done in his career is amazing…they have a very strong team. So, yeah, looking forward to it,” Frank added.

With Kolo Muani’s potential return and a challenging fixture ahead, Spurs fans will be watching closely to see how Frank balances fitness, form, and tactical options for the weekend clash.
