Arbeloa’s comments come after months of speculation surrounding dressing-room tensions

Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa has responded to all the rumors going on. The Spaniard decided to open up on the dressing room drama reports ahead of the clash vs FC Barcelona.

Arbeloa has strongly rejected reports of player unprofessionalism and disrespect toward his leadership, while taking full responsibility for the club’s trophyless 2025-26 campaign. He also spoke on if he receives any kind of unprofessional behavior from the team players.

Real Madrid’s Arbeloa’s shocking claim on dressing room drama

In a press conference ahead of El Clásico, the former defender dismissed claims of dressing-room unrest involving several homegrown players and recent training-ground incidents with stars like Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Arbeloa stated squad unity and insisted there was no lack of respect from his players. He said:

“It's a LIE that the players are unprofessional, that they've disrespected me”.

The Los Blancos boss added:

“Just as false is the claim that some of them aren't playing because of problems with me. I'm the one ultimately responsible for the fact that the season won't be up to par”.

Arbeloa’s comments come after months of speculation surrounding dressing-room tensions that reportedly emerged following his appointment as first-team coach in January 2026, when Xabi Alonso departed the role.

Despite the public show of support, multiple reports have suggested Arbeloa is unlikely to remain in charge beyond the current season. Arbeloa’s tenure has been marked by a challenging run for the Spanish giants, who have failed to secure silverware in what was expected to be a competitive year.
