Rodrygo has lost his ‘untouchable’ status, with just two assists in 15 games and a 20-match goal drought.

The Brazilian admits he prefers playing on the left but remains open to Xabi Alonso’s positional demands.

Spanish Giants Real Madrid are reportedly open to selling Rodrygo Goes next season. They will listen to offers for the Brazilian, who has now lost his 'untouchable' status at the side.

Real Madrid to sell Rodrygo?

As per The Athletic journalist Mario Cortegana, Real Madrid have decided to listen to offers for Rodrygo amidst speculations about his future. The winger was linked with a move away in the summer, but decided to stay at the club. However, he has failed to create an impact under Xabi Alonso and could now leave.

Rodrygo has registered just two assists in 15 games across all competitions this season. After his appearance in Real Madrid's 1-1 draw against Girona away in LaLiga on November 30, he set an unwanted record. He has failed to score a goal in 20 straight games for Los Blancos, equalling Mariano Diaz's streak at the side. Rafa Maranon is second on the list without a goal.

Rodrygo has started just four matches across all competitions under Xabi Alonso's coaching this season. With his contract ending in 2028 and the presence of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., Los Blancos are open to selling him. The 24-year-old forward was linked with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool in the summer.

Rodrygo opened up about his conversation with Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid

Rodrygo Goes' favorite positioned is the left wing. However, he has mostly been playing on the right wing for Real Madrid over the years because of presence of Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe. In an interview with AS in October, he talked about his conversation with Xabi Alonso regarding his favored position.

The Brazilian winger said:

"When Xabi arrived, he called me in to talk and said, 'I know you like playing on the left, but I'm going to need you in other positions too.' I told him, 'Okay, mister, I'm here to help the team.' Everyone knows I prefer to play on the left and that I'm much better on that wing, but I'm always available to the team to play on the right or as a number nine, and I told him so.

"The truth is, he's only putting me on the left, and I like the level of minutes I'm getting. I'm doing well, although, logically, I want to play more. I'm in a process of evolution, and I'm getting better all the time, and I feel happy. I'm performing better all the time."

Rodrygo joined Real Madrid from Santos in 2019 and registered 68 goals and 53 assists in 285 games across competitions.
