Story Highlights:

Lewandowski’s goal against Mallorca extends his remarkable scoring streak, equalling Lionel Messi’s 15-season milestone and closing in on Cristiano Ronaldo’s record.

The Barcelona striker has now hit double figures in every league campaign since 2011-12, spanning spells with Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona.

Robert Lewandowski's goal in Barcelona's 3-0 La Liga victory against Mallorca on Saturday, February 7, made him the only third player this century, after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, to score minimum 10 goals in Europe's top five leagues in 15 straight seasons.

Robert Lewandowski equals Cristiano Ronaldo's record

Lewandowskis streak began with Borussia Dortmund in 2011-12, when he scored 22 goals in their victorious Bundesliga season. In the next two seasons, he scored 24 and 20 goals, respectively before moving to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014.

The polish striker continued his run in each of his eight seasons at Bayern Munich, with a heigh of 41 in 2020-21. After joining Barcelona in the season of 2022, he scored at least 19 goals in each of his first three La Liga seasons, winning the league title twice, before reaching double figures for this season by opening the scoring goal against Mallorca in the 10th minute.

Messi and Ronaldo's dominance

That levelled him with Messi (15) - all with Barcelona (between 2006-07 and 2021) with a league high of 50 in 2011-12. Only Ronaldo (16) has managed to put more double-figure league tallies in Europe's Top five Leagues- for three different clubs - Manchester United (four), Real Madrid (nine) and Juventus (three).

Since his last season in a top five league - 2022-23 - when he scored just one goal in 10 matches - Ronaldo has scored at least 14 league goals in next four seasons - all with Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr.
