Los Blancos won a 5-0 clash against FC Kairat in the Champions League, however, what instead became the centre of attention is Fede Valverde, the star midfielder of the club. The Montevideo native unused substitutes for the game. The Uruguayan player warmed up but was not called in to play.

Meanwhile, following several reports which, as per Valverde, were not true, stated that the player is on good terms with coach Alonso and he has never refused to play for the club. The 27-year-old took over his social media account to clarify the situation and speak against the articles that went against his reputation. He wrote:

“I have read several articles damaging my reputation. I know I’ve had bad games, I’m aware of it. I’m not hiding, and I face the criticism head-on.”

The La Liga midfielder, stating his relationship with the head coach further wrote:

“I have a good relationship with the coach, which makes me feel confident enough to tell him which position I prefer on the pitch, but I always, always made it clear that I’m available to perform anywhere, on any trip, and in every game.”

Valverde continued by writing that he has given his “heart and soul” for the Whites and will “continue to do so.” The Uruguay international also informed his critics that he will fight until the end and will at any position he is needed, swearing on his “pride.”

The player went through questions on Monday from the media relating to the rumors of whether he is ready to play as an emergency right-back while teammate Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold are sidelined. Real Madrid stated that he is ready to learn and play at the position, even if it doesn't suit his playing style.
