Lionel Messi’s teammate, fresh off captaining Inter Miami to MLS Cup glory in 2025, has just dropped a nuclear take that's sending shockwaves through European football circles.

The Champions League is widely seen as the pinnacle of club football. But this bold claim by the MLS player has divided the whole football fans.

Inter Miami star's bold UCL vs MLS comparison will drive fans crazy

Rodrigo De Paul has argued that the league's grueling 34-game regular season plus playoffs demands near-perfection, outpacing the UCL's intense but shorter knockout path. The player said:

“I think it’s harder to win the MLS than the Champions League. It sounds crazy but the format of MLS is really tough. You have to play perfectly all the time.”

The argument is coming from a guy who spent years grinding in La Liga with Atletico Madrid, chasing that elusive UCL title which never came, only to cross the Atlantic, join Messi's project, and lift the MLS Cup in relatively short order, and this has everyone arguing on the comparison.
