U.S. Soccer has taken a significant leap forward in its long-term vision, appointing Dan Helfrich—former Chair and CEO of Deloitte Consulting LLP—as its next Chief Operating Officer. The transformative hire, effective January 1, 2026, signals the federation’s commitment to scaling its operations, sharpening its strategic execution, and accelerating growth during a milestone era for the sport in the United States.

Helfrich will report directly to CEO and Secretary General JT Batson, taking charge of U.S. Soccer’s day-to-day operations. His appointment comes just weeks after his retirement from Deloitte in December 2025, marking a seamless transition from corporate leadership to one of the nation’s most influential sports institutions.
The federation highlighted his role clearly, stating he will spearhead the implementation of its long-term strategic plan, In Service to Soccer. With nearly 30 years of experience managing large-scale organizations—including a consulting practice of 85,000 employees and $20 billion in revenue—Helfrich brings unmatched operational depth to U.S. Soccer’s commercial, competitive, and developmental infrastructure.
Batson emphasized the magnitude of this appointment, noting, “U.S. Soccer has more than doubled in the last few years — and we know there is more work to do to reach our ambitious goals. Dan brings a rare combination of deep operational expertise, curiosity, and a lifelong passion for the game. His leadership and commitment to excellence will help us move faster, work smarter, and continue building the foundation for soccer’s next chapter in the U.S.”
