The television cameras captured the clash, which has since gone viral on the internet. According to Mundo Deportivo, Simeone was captured saying:
“Florentino is going to fire you. Remember that later.”
Later, when the Brazilian forward was being substituted, Simeone appeared to refer to the same thing as he pointed out the whistles being made at Vinicius Jr.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid responded in style by knocking out the opponents from the tournament. They will now face their arch-rivals, Barcelona, in the final of the Super Cup on Sunday (Monday in India).
Barcelona, who are 1st in La Liga, had already secured their place in the final as they beat the Athletic Club 5-0. Hansi Flick’s side will aim to defend their title when they meet Xabi Alonso’s squad in the battle for the title.
