Dale Earnhardt Jr. was happy after his return to Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 300 as he finished the race in the seventh spot, despite facing early challenges in the race.
What happened with Dale Earnhardt Jr. during the race?
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s net worth is $300 million. He made his return in the #88 Chevrolet seat to compete in the Xfinity Series race. He started the race from the thirteenth spot and soon he gained positions but then the problems started to show one by one for the veteran.
He had issues with his team radio. The team called him in the pits to solve the issue, in which they would change his helmet but still the problem remained. During the race, Dale Jr. even lost his spectacles which made it difficult for him to see clearly.
Later in the race, Dale had to contend with loud noise. The team later attached a push-to-talk radio to his chest. But things went bad to worse when the push-to-talk radio fell and the volume was increased to maximum.
Despite all the hardships Dale Earnhardt Jr. had to face during the race, he still managed to finish in the seventh spot. He took to his account on X and shared that he would love to come back to the track.
"Drank beer on pit road till 2am. I think we got everything out of this evening we possibly could. Recommend 10 out of 10. Would come again @ItsBristolBaby," Dale wrote on his social media.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was without communication for 120 laps at Bristol
Racing at Bristol can be tricky as the margin of error is very small. The drivers must communicate with their teams in the pit lane and get to know about their surroundings and how to avoid accidents. But Dale couldn't establish any communication with his team even after switching his earplugs.
"We had a radio harness or something went out under the pace laps and didn’t have a radio for about 50 laps. Swapped out the earplugs, still didn’t work. Swapped out the helmet, still didn’t work. So probably ran about 120 laps without really much communication with TJ(Majors). And finally, they stuck a radio with a short harness in it and a button I could clip to my chest, and I could hear them and talk back under caution, but it worked out, and we didn’t lose any lap or anything," Dale added.
“So just as frustrating as that is, it was important not to give up and lose a lap or anything and try to salvage what we could because we had a top-10, top-five car. And I’m glad we were able to get a good result with those issues,” Dale concluded.
