India has deployed its elite dog squad and a 10-member K-9 team to enhance security for the Paris Olympics. These specially trained canine units from the CRPF will be stationed in Paris for a month, carrying out sniffing and patrolling duties at various Olympic venues. 

 

India's elite K-9 team to bolster security at Paris Olympics

 

The deployment is part of India's security cooperation with France and aims to bolster the extensive security measures already in place for the games. This marks the first international deployment for India's elite K-9 team, whose highly trained dogs are expected to play a vital role in ensuring the safety of athletes and spectators.

 

India has sent two elite sniffer dogs to bolster security at the Paris Olympics. Vast and Denby, five and three-year-old Belgian Shepherd Malinois, departed for Paris on July 10th as part of a 10-dog K-9 team. These highly trained canines, along with their handlers, underwent rigorous, ten-week specialized training, including physical conditioning and basic French language courses. The Belgian Shepherd Malinois is renowned for its intelligence and is a preferred breed for security forces globally.

India is sending a strong contingent to the Paris Olympics. In addition to providing security support, India aims to improve upon its previous medal tally of seven at the Tokyo Olympics. The nation is hopeful that its athletes will excel in Paris. India will send its second-largest Olympic contingent to Paris, with 117 athletes participating. The team comprises 47 women and 70 men, making it slightly smaller than the 121-athlete squad that competed in Tokyo. Athletics is the most represented sport, with 29 athletes, followed by shooting with 21.

 

India's Olympic contingent comprises 117 athletes across 20 sports. Athletics is the largest group with 29 representatives, followed by shooting with 21 and hockey with 19. Badminton and table tennis have seven and eight athletes respectively. Notably, India will have single representatives in equestrian, judo, rowing, and weightlifting. Compared to the 119-athlete Tokyo Olympics team, this contingent is slightly smaller.
