The inaugural edition of the Neeraj Chopra (NC) Classic javelin meet has been postponed indefinitely amid war-like situation between India and Pakistan. The event was scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on May 24, where the stars like Anderson Peters and Thomas Rohler had confirmed their participation. Grenada's Peter is a two-time world champion and Rohler is the gold-medallist from the 2016 Olympics.
This is the second sporting event that has been postponed since the rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) postponed the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Neeraj Chopra Classic took their 'X', formerly known as Twitter, to announce that the javelin meet has been postponed, considering the well-being of athletes, stakeholders, and the broader community.

"In light of the current situation, the inaugural edition of the NC Classic stands postponed until further notice. This decision has been made after careful thought and consultation, with the well-being of athletes, stakeholders, and the broader community as the top priority," the Press release reads.
"We believe in the unifying power of sport. But, in this critical moment, standing firm with the nation matters most. All our gratitude and thoughts at this point are only with our Armed Forces, who are at the forefront for our nation. A revised schedule for the NC Classic will be provided in due course. Jai Hind. Team NC Classic" release added.
The event was jointly organised by Chopra and JSW Sports in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and World Athletics, featuring top global as well as Indian javelin throwers."
