Controversial MMA fighter Conor McGregor has attracted fresh allegations of sexual assault dating back from Game 4 of the 2023 NBA Finals. The Florida State Attorney's office did not press charges at the Irishman at the time. However, in a new development, the 49-year-old plaintiff filed a lawsuit on Tuesday reaffirming her earlier allegations.

Conor McGregor Sued Over Alleged Sexual Assault

Controversy and lawsuits do not seem to leave Conor McGregor as, on Tuesday, a lawsuit was filed in Florida by an anonymous woman alleging that the UFC star assaulted her in a VIP bathroom at the Kaseya Centre on June 9. McGregor was in attendance for the NBA Finals match between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets.

The woman reportedly claimed that McGregor took her away from the crowded place to a private bathroom before assaulting her. A report was made to City of Miami Police, but criminal charges were dropped. McGregor denies the claims. Barbara Llanes, his attorney, released an immediate statement to ESPN after the civil lawsuit was filed.

“After a thorough investigation at the time, the State's Attorney concluded that there was no case to pursue,” McGregor's attorney, Barbara Llanes, said in an email to ESPN. “Almost two years and at least three lawyers later the plaintiff has a new false story. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed.”

“My client has thought long and hard about the decision to pursue this civil case, and is fearful of the effect it may have on her job on Wall Street,” the accuser's lawyer Jim Dunn said. “Nonetheless, her main goal in filing this suit is to raise awareness and encourage others to report sexual assault.”

It is not the first time Conor McGregor is facing such allegations. In March 2019, The New York Times reported that Conor McGregor was under investigation by Irish police for alleged sexual assault incidents. The first alleged incident occurred in December 2018 at a Dublin hotel, while a second alleged incident was reported in October 2019, involving an assault in a car earlier that month.
