Conor McGregor takes a subtle dig at Jake Paul following his defeat to Anthony Joshua.

The long-running McGregor–Paul rivalry resurfaces amid injury concerns and future fight speculation.

Conor McGregor wasted no time taking aim at Jake Paul following the latter’s crushing defeat to Anthony Joshua. The UFC superstar mocked Paul in a since-deleted social media post after the heavyweight clash left the boxer with the most serious injury of his career.

Paul suffered a sixth-round TKO loss to Joshua last week, marking the second defeat of his professional boxing run. The bout ended decisively after Joshua landed a powerful right hand that resulted in Paul sustaining a broken jaw.

Deleted post adds fuel to long-running rivalry

The tension between McGregor and Paul has been simmering for years, with both fighters frequently exchanging verbal jabs online. That rivalry resurfaced on Christmas Day when Paul attempted to reassure fans about his condition.

“God is great. Broken jaw but brain and spine all clear. Never been more motivated,” Jake Paul posted on X. “Merry Christmas to all around the world. Never stop trying to be great. You are guaranteed 100% failure if you don’t try.”

Conor McGregor responded with a taunt of his own before quickly deleting the post.

“Indeed! God is great! Enjoy your Christmas smoothies, bro,” McGregor posted.

As of now, Paul has not publicly replied to McGregor’s comments.

Conor McGregor cashes in as Paul looks ahead

McGregor had a vested interest in the fight’s outcome, having teased a “colossal” wager ahead of the bout. He ultimately walked away with a sizable payday after correctly backing Anthony Joshua to defeat Paul.

While a potential fight between McGregor and Paul has been rumored for years, it has never materialized. Still, their ongoing exchanges continue to keep speculation alive.

Conor McGregor is currently eyeing a return to the UFC Octagon next year, with plans targeting a bout against Michael Chandler at the White House. He has not competed since suffering a severe leg injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

Jake Paul, meanwhile, is reportedly targeting a return to the ring in 2026, despite growing calls for retirement from figures like Joe Rogan.
