Joe Rogan is the host of one of the most popular podcasts on the internet.

When Dana White made the shocking announcement that Ilia Topuria is vacating his Featherweight title to climb up the weight ladder to enter the Lightweight section, the possibility of him going up against the king of the division, Islam Makhachev, came as an immediate thought. However, the probable fight could not maintain the intrigue as Makhachev straight up rejected the idea of fighting the El Matador. Makhachev apparently wants Topuria to cement his position in the Lightweight division before aspiring to have a crack at the gold. Hence, Topuria's situation has become complex.

Joe Rogan Pays Heed To Potential Islam Makhachev vs Ilia Topuria Bout

The MMA community is divided over whether the former Featherweight king should get a title shot against Makhachev or not. Amid the discussion, famed UFC commentator Joe Rogan has given has say on the potential Islam Makhachev vs Ilia Topuria fight.

On a recent “Fight Companion” live stream for UFC London, Joe Rogan shared his belief that Ilia Topuria does not get a UFC lightweight title fight right away (h/t DovySimuMMA).

“I don’t think that’s happening,” Rogan said. “I wonder what they’re gonna do with Topuria. I like Topuria vs Oliveira. Oliveira is so tall, so dangerous everywhere, huge reach advantage. Those lightweights are real big, Islam’s huge.”

Ilia Topuria's move could be hailed as gutsy, but will he be as successful in the Lightweight as he was in the Featherweight will be all to look forward to. The Spaniard is still undefeated in his career and considering that nobody has been able to crack his code till now makes a push for the lightweight championship bout against Islam quite interesting. However, the dominance of the pound-for-pound no.1 fighter against the opponents bigger the size of Topuria leaves experts and fans skeptical about Ilia's chances against him.
