India's two-time Olympics medallist is confirmed to make a comeback after missing several months of action after recovering from the back injury. Neeraj will participate in the Doha Diamond League which is scheduled to take place on June 19.

Neeraj has fond memories of Doha. Last year, he crossed the 90 metre mark for the first time at the venue.
"Neeraj Chopra has recovered from his back injury. He's will be returning to action probably in next 10 days.," said AFI spokesperson Adille Sumariwalla.

Neeraj will face stiff competition from Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage who recently broke records at Rome Diamond League with a 92.62 metre throw.

Ukraine's Artur Felfner, Egypt's Ahmed Sameh Mohamed Hussein, Grenada's Anderson Peters, USA's Curtis Thompson, Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch, Trinidad & Tobago's Keshorn Walcott, Kenya's Julius Yego will participate at the event.
When was Neeraj’s last appearance?
Neeraj's last competitive appearance was at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, on September 18, 2025 where he finished eighth. His best was 84.03 metres as he struggled with back injury.
Neeraj in CWG squad too
On June 14, Neeraj was named in India’s squad for the Commonwealth Games 2026 as well. However, his participation is subject to achieving the qualifying mark of 82.61 metre before the tournament.
Who participated in previous Diamond League in Neeraj’s absence?
In Rome Diamond League, India's Sachin Yadav made his debut at the event. He had a forgettable outing as his best throw was 79.18 metre, not the worst but one that would see him finishing eighth. Sachin won’t feature in the Doha Diamond League.
Other than him, there are two javelin throwers as well. Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh have been named in the squad as well.
