Neeraj Chopra wins silver, Yash Vir Singh adds bronze, Sri Lanka's Pathirage crowned gold medal at CWG 2026 Javelin

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra claimed silver and debutant Yash Vir Singh secured bronze in a strong showing for India in the men's javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games. Chopra, the 2018 Games gold medallist, produced a season's best throw of 85.83 metres to finish second.

Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage dominated with gold on a best effort of 89.75 metres. Singh, under pressure in his final attempt, launched a personal best of 85.41 metres to snatch bronze, moving up from seventh place. 

The result marks a double podium for India, with third Indian qualifier Rohit Yadav finishing seventh on 81.56 metres. Athletes competed in challenging cold and windy conditions at Scotstoun Stadium. 

This performance adds to Chopra's impressive international record following his Tokyo Olympic gold and recent injury recovery. Singh's clutch throw highlighted the depth of Indian javelin talent on his Commonwealth debut.
